Sweet potato, and nothing else. No meat, no fish, no grain, no added flavoring or coloring — just sweet potato, sliced and dried.

These are slices cut from whole sweet potatoes, not thin chips. They are chewy rather than crisp, firm enough that most dogs spend a little time working on a piece instead of swallowing it straight down.

How to serve them

One piece at a time, given whole to a larger dog or torn down for a smaller one. Treats are meant for intermittent or supplemental feeding, so keep them to a small part of your dog's day and leave fresh water out.

What to expect

• One ingredient: sweet potato. Nothing added.
• Chewy rather than crunchy.
• Slices that vary in thickness, length and color, with darker edges and a slightly leathery surface. A few smaller broken pieces usually settle toward the bottom of the pack.
• No meat, fish or poultry of any kind.

Storage

Keep the pack somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight, and reseal it tightly after each use. If you are working through it slowly, moving a week or two of treats into a smaller airtight container keeps the rest of the pack sealed.
