Cod Fish Wafer Dog Treats - Single Ingredient Snacks 8-oz

Cod wafers are made from the part of the fish most people never see. Once a cod has been filleted and skinned, we take what is left — the flesh still on the frame and the fine bone with it — and dry it into a thin, crisp wafer. Nothing is added, and more of each fish gets used instead of going to waste.

Drying the bone in along with the flesh is what makes these unusual. Independent lab testing puts the wafers at around 12% calcium by weight, with just over 47% protein and only 2.6% fat, at about 60 calories an ounce.

How to serve them

Give a wafer whole, or snap it into smaller pieces for a smaller dog or for training — they break cleanly by hand. Treats are meant for intermittent or supplemental feeding, so keep them to a small part of your dog's day and leave fresh water out.

What to expect

• One ingredient: cod. No fillers, binders, artificial colors, flavors or added preservatives.
• Light and crisp rather than a long-lasting chew.
• Size, shape and color vary from wafer to wafer, because they are cut from whole fish rather than shaped to a mold.

Storage

Keep the bag somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight. Reseal it tightly after opening, or move the wafers into an airtight container. They do not need refrigerating.
